Think of it this way: if you were hanging over a cliff, would you rather be hanging on with your own hands, or have someone else holding onto you? Most of us would rather have a firm grip ourselves, rather than trusting such an elementally important task to someone else—especially if they were a stranger or just an acquaintance.

Isn&#039;t your financial future and your emotional and physical well-being just as important as hanging on, up there on that cliff? Of course it is.

It just isn&#039;t that immediate.

I think the best thing in the world that happens to people like you and I is to lose our jobs. I was fortunate that when my last job disappeared, Best Beloved&#039;s health just wouldn&#039;t allow me to be away from home at a job all day, so I had to make self-employment work. No other option, it had to work.

Bumpy road, better to boot strap than leap from an airplane with a silkworm instead of a parachute—but better that, than to never leap.

I&#039;ll make it personal: what are &lt;em&gt;you&lt;/em&gt; waiting for, Shawn McCormick?</description>
